"Biographical Learning" reloaded. Theoretical grounding of a challenging appoach

چکیده
Abstract. This article discusses an apparently ‘outdated’ concept of thinking about learning within the lifespan. Obviously, term ‘biographical learning’ has been replaced by label ‘lifelong learning’. In a first section, this position is critically examined and importance biography for all experiences emphasised. second step argumentation, it conceptually specified what peculiarity biographical actually is. The specifity can only be understood from perspective through dimensions ‘temporality’, ‘contextuality’ ‘reflexivity’. concluding third part introduces ‘biographicity’ proposes theoretical understanding complex idea using ‘grammar metaphor’ language theory.

A Theoretical Grounding for Semantic Descriptions of Place
This paper is motivated by the problem of how to provide better access to ever enlarging collections of digital images. The paper opens by examining the concept of place in geographic theory and suggests how it might provide a way of providing keywords suitable for indexing of images. The paper then focuses on the specific challenge of how places are described in natural language, drawing on pr...
متن کاملLegal HARKing: theoretical grounding in interaction research
In psychology, we tend to follow the general logic of falsificationism: we separate the ‘context of discovery’ (how we come up with theories) from the ‘context of justification’ (how we test them). However, when studying human interaction, separating these contexts can lead to theories with low ecological validity that do not generalize well to life outside the lab. We propose borrowing researc...
متن کاملGrounding As Learning
Communication among agents requires (among many other things) that each agent be able to identify the semantic values of the generators of the language. This is the ”grounding” problem: how do agents with different cognitive and perceptual experiences successfully converge on common (or at least sufficiently similar) meanings for the language? There are many linguistic studies of how human lear...
متن کاملGrounding Word Learning in Space
Humans and objects, and thus social interactions about objects, exist within space. Words direct listeners' attention to specific regions of space. Thus, a strong correspondence exists between where one looks, one's bodily orientation, and what one sees. This leads to further correspondence with what one remembers. Here, we present data suggesting that children use associations between space an...
متن کامل"grounding" for Intersubjectivity and Learning
Recently, a number of researchers within Cultural-Historical Activity Theory (CHAT) have studied how discursive interaction unfolds between parent and child, as well as in the classroom (e.g. Matusov, 1996; Wells, 1996, Wertsch, 1985). Understanding such phenomena on the interpersonal plane is important given that the negotiation of intersubjective situation definitions is one of the vehicles o...
